Polyester is the most commonly used material for marine ropes. Itis also available in a wide range of colours and weights, themost common weights are 250, 500, 1000 & 1500 denier. It isresistant to U/V rays and all colours are colourfast.
Prolongedexposure in water has little or no lasting effects. It has goodabrasion resistance, especially when twisted. However it cannot be dyed using normal dyeing methods. It has low stretchand used in all 5 & 6 series, sash cords, luff cords, HJ series andyacht braids; it is suitable for Halyards, Sheets, Reefing lines andcontrol lines on cruising boats.
